Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Synergetic™ Structural Integration, developed by Magnus Eklund, is a very powerful form of bodywork aimed at bringing proper alignment to the joints and soft tissue of the body. The focus of the work is on releasing restrictions in the connective tissue of the body known as the fascia by using various techniques such as scooping with the forearms, fists, fingers, elbow, or knuckles depending on the particular area being worked and the comfort level of the client. Other examples of techniques are stretching, rocking, shaking, and positional release of the targeted muscles or joints. The work is dry, so no oil or lotion will be used. The client's posture and movement will be assessed before and after the work which is one of the greatest tools of experiencing the powerful change that can be achieved using this modality. Athletic wear (shorts, t-shirt, tank top etc..) is required as the client will be in various positions to receive the work such as seated, side-lying, prone (face-down), supine (face-up), and standing. The therapist will check in with the client ensuring the pressure and speed of the technique being applied is within their comfort level. This work can at times be intense but communication will be priority. There are certainly contraindications with this work, so make sure to disclose any injuries or illnesses present at the time before proceeding with the work. We have introduced a 30 minute introductory session for clients to experience the work first hand and packages are available as well.
